IN THE SPIRIT OF THE SEASON WE SALUTE YOU AKEEM ADENIYI ADEYEMI

IN THE SPIRIT OF THE SEASON

WE SALUTE YOU AKEEM ADENIYI ADEYEMI

by Oladotun Oladele

The holy books have always enjoined us that we have the "haves" and the "have nots" in as much as we remain on the face of the earth, we will always have those who are financially better and the needy.  There is no compulsion in giving, it's a personal thing and a choice that very few will ever make. In every society or town the good people know the individuals who reach out to them. They know people who have means who never reach out. The also know people who have some and our of what they have they share. In the spirit of this season, the teachings is that you reach out to your neighbours who are needy and share something. There is no aggregation of size of what you share, we are encouraged to share love.

The demonstration of love in Oyo Metropolis is what is seen in the foodstuffs shared by Prince Akeem Adeniyi Adeyemi aside from been the son of the most popular , most generous and the paramount Yoruba traditional ruler the Alaafin of Oyo, a very humble, amiable gentleman who is absolutely pleasant with a kind heart have demonstrated the giving to his people irrespective of their political affiliations, religion, ethnic or social status. Characteristically, he also reached out to all the Chiefs in Oyo, Baales and Oyomesis so that in this time many can have something to cheer about.

I want to use this medium to appreciate this gesture because this is not the first time and won't be the last time. He had empowered people with cash in the past where over 1,500 people got n20k each to support their small businesses and most recently he gave n50k each to over 600 people in Oyo Alaafin. Bi e o ri ise re, ewo igboro wo, e bere lowo awon Ara ati awon Omo Oyo, all local governments have had the touch of Skimeh. Far too numerous are transformers, over 23 ICT centers for schools in the four local government in Oyo public and private schools, tertiary institutions state and federal yet he has never rested on his oars.

If he has decided to share some foodstuffs and money, it is better other people either follow suit and not just come speaking against that which they can do and didn't do, after all we all have neighbours and many can't even feed for a day and many will not reach out to them even their immediate family members can't approach or benefit from them. I join all well meaning sons and daughters of Oyo Alaafin to appreciate Akeem Adeniyi Adeyemi Skimeh our representative at the federal house of representative for the ongoing foodstuffs and money gifts in this season and may God continue to bless and enlarge your coasts, Insha Allah and in Jesus name.

THE SECURITY ALERT IN OYO

Engr. Seyi Makinde Executive Governor of Oyo State  Written by Oladotun Oladele In Nigeria of today, security is no longer the exclusive responsibility of our security agencies given the various incidencies that have taken place in our dear country and our neighboring states. The patrol of the Nigeria police and all synergized security agencies in Oyo with their patrol in the hinterlands is a wake up call and a very much welcomed development in Oyo most especially from the events of countless lives and properties that have been lost due to the attacks by armed bandits who have terrorised some villages in Kwara State before the deployment of the detachment of the military to quell the bandit incursions. In Yoruba parlance, the proverb that says "the death that is killing someone very close to one is definitely sending one a strong message". There is need for proactiveness in checkmating the menace of the nefarious activities of these hoodlums and security is actually local. Fr...

Mass Decamping Hits PDP in Oyo

Written by Ibrahim Adelakun. As the elections of 2027 is drawing near, there are alignment and realignments of party members. Political pundits have opine that this does not seem to be the best of times seeing that Oyo State happened to be the state that was to host the national convention of the PDP and currently there are court rulings for and against the hosting of the convention. Be it as it may, some party faithfuls are already taking the exit door into other parties.  In Oyo metropolis many staunch and foundational members of the ruling party in Oyo have decided to dump their party and move to the All Progressive Congress as a result of diplomatic moves of Prince Akeem Adeniyi Adeyemi a move which started last week during the meeting of the APC where loyalists of late Prince Adebayo Adeyemi who came second losing by a narrow margin decided to dump the ruling party in Oyo State. Many would have thought that the decamping will end with the Oyo East/West PDP members who decamped...

THE POWERS OF BABA IYAJI IN DETERMINING WHO BECOMES THE NEXT ALAAFIN OF OYO

Alaafin Oba Adeyemi III  Written by Oladotun Oladele (Media Director to the Alaafin 08037250845) History has it that separation of powers started with the Oyos though it was not written. The principle of separation of powers was the cabinet system of the Alaafin to prevent abuses and arrogation of power. The Alaafin was the President but there were due process and established structures in Oyo. Nothing was ever left in abeyance because for every need there was an established process. When the British came, they acknowledged that there was an already established system of governance and it dated back to the 1500. In Oyo Alaafin, there is a popular song and the song goes thus “N’Iyaji, Niyaji, gbogbo Omoba, niyaji ni ile (literal translation: At Iyaji, at Iyaji all the children of the king, Iyaji is home). It is no longer news that the most revered stool of the Yorubas which is the ancient throne of the Alaafin of Oyo, the greatest traditional ruler in Yorubaland who founded the only...
