The keenly contested encounter had seen the Emmanuel Alayande College boys taking the lead in the early minutes before OYO'A levelled up few minutes later. Both goals came in the first half as the 2nd half produced no further goals. In the ensuing penalties that followed, Newcastle FC converted all their 4 kicks and didn't need to take the 5th as Oyo Alaafin FC club only managed to score 3 out of theirs after Adio no 2 jersey skied the last kick to the heavens.   After the hostilities in the 4 days round of 16 fixtures of the competition, Quarter finalists have eventually emerged. In the match day one of the round of 16 fixtures, Newcastle FC Oyo got the better of Rovet FA IWO with a 2-1 victory while the 2nd match of the day  saw Oyo A FC edging out Crossville SA of Ibadan on a similar 2-1 margin. Match day 2, Leeds FC Ilora were eliminated as Tottenham FC came from the dead to win on 4-2 penalties after a 1-1 regulation time scoreline the same day Adifala FC Ogbomosho edged out Netbreakers FC Oyo on 2-1 scoreline. Alaafin Oba Adeyemi III  Welcome to the daily updates of the selection process that is taking place inside the Agbala Ogun Court of the Alaafin palace with the Oyomesis interviewing the princes who have shown interest in becoming the Alaafin of Oyo. The interview process today have taken place and amongst all the candidates invited for the interview only four (4) candidates showed up physically for the interview and they were all interviewed. This brings us to fifty-nine candidates who have so far been interviewed for the exalted throne of the Yorubaland. The interview process will continue tomorrow  but it will come to an end tomorrow and the updates will be given for public. The interview process remains exclusively a family affair of the ruling houses in Oyo and only the candidates are invited.

As at today, an estimated 41 candidates have been invited and we have 39 candidates who have shown up for the interview.  The number of candidates expected for the interview is 86 princes from the ruling houses. The interview of the 7th of September, 2022 was 13 candidates instead of 10 and as such today the invitation was for 8 candidates and only 6 showed up for the interview. There would be no interview for tomorrow Friday and the interview continues on Monday the 11th of September, 2022. Today family and friends joined their kits and kin who are vying for the stool  The interview process had commenced as early as 10am and as at this minute the interview process is still on going and without any doubt no candidate have come out of the interview room frowning but they are optimistic that they could be selected. Actually it is a family affair and they are all descendants of Alaafin Atiba who founded the Oyo that is today. You will get daily updates as the process continues but media are not allowed into the palace as the security remains tight. The search continues for who will become the next Alaafin of Oyo.

  We would like to officially confirm that the selection process have begun for the new Alaafin of Oyo as 86 candidates began their screening exercise today under very tight security and close door by the Oyomesi, members of the council, state and federal government institutions. The interview process which is featuring 10 princes with two witnesses after the interview is expectedly to allow for transparency in the selection process. The government of Oyo State have continually emphasized that they would allow the kingmakers to select the Alaafin and they would ascent the will of the people as presented by the Oyomesi.
