WHERE NIGERIA MISSED IT AS A NATION?

Written by Oladotun Oladele  Chief Obafemi Awolowo Gen. Aguyi Ironsi Chief Olusegun Okikiola Aremu Obasanjo Gen Muritala Muhammed There is need to look at Nigeria from a different perspective because what we see are myriads of problems which had hitherto  bedeviled our great nation threatening it with all manners of problems. Whether we like it or not, Nigeria is the most interesting country in Africa. Many times lots of people have just been awed by the events which had hitherto been happening in this most populous African nation.  The popular belief shared in many quarters was that the amalgamation of Nigeria was the greatest disservice ever done to this nation. A school of thought believed that if the country was not amalgamated we won't be in this contraption called Nigeria. Someone once said, if Nigerians were to be given the entire United States of America that we would be back in the same place where we are today in no distant time. These are shades of opinions....

BUSINESS SUCCESSION: BEWARE OF DEVIL'S ADVOCATES

Written by Oladotun Oladele (Pictures are for illustration purposes) STEVE JOBS Dr. BILL GATES  HENRY FORD The greatest joy of any entrepreneur is to start a business and for the business to prosper. Enterpreneurship is a very good thing and it is a known fact that it is entrepreneurs who actually shaped the world. For all we are enjoying today are all handwork and hardworks of mena  and women who dared to be different pursuing their dreams and visions with all vigour, tenacity even in the face of all odds stacked against them. These people have survived and succeeded inspite of all odds and their stories are the elixir and catalysts which have continued to fuel all men and women who dared to dream with their eyes open. Today, we have many of these companies and businesses scattered all over the countries of the world and it is highly unfortunate that I am going to have to use this video as a reference but I want everyone to learn the lessons in the video and juxtapose it with...

SOLVING THE PROBLEM OF ELECTRICITY IN NIGERIA

Written by Oladotun Oladele  Nigeria as a nation have been living and are tormented by this highly hydra-headed problem of electricity in Nigeria. There is one salient truth and that is, this problem is very surmountable and it can be overcome. Many would only wonder when as a nation that when will we ever get it right. It is very possible to get our electricity problems right if we have a system that is actually working. At this junction, we cannot but take a look back into our history or our immediate past. It will do us no good if we have to look way back in time in the days when as a nation we were starting out but tobe sincere, there are no problems that have faced us as a nation that is beyond us. Be it as it may, there are many people who are happy with the state that we are as a country because they are making tons of money in the ensuing chaos that is bedeviling this great nation. Nigeria is definitely a great nation with a great prospects but it is out sad that many...

Capital Is Not Scarce, Vision and Will Power Is The True Scarcity

Ted Turner, Founder of CNN Whenever I am interviewing the partners at these large firms, the very first thing I hear is "who's backing this". If you are that monetarily focused, you have lost the spirit of business. The money follows the energy, the spirit, the vision, the will to bring a product or service into the market. There's plenty of money in this day and age if you look hard enough. Agree or disagree? Many are just fond of looking for excuses all because the drams they carry in their minds and hands are just too paltry and they are obviously going to fail, hence no one wants to gamble on them with their money. Ask yourself honestly, if you were to meet yourself on the other side given the same scenario that you are looking for capital, will you loan the money to your self? Knowing you do not have other means of livelihood or extra capital but the one that you are about to raise is what you are dependent on?

ALAAFINOLOGY

Introduction By deploying the conceptual framing of kingship power as Alaafinology, I am offering a conversation that is less about the narrative of this specific kingship but a lot more about it as a "system" of politics, institution of governance, and political philosophy. I am doing so not within just the Oyo data, as useful as this may be, but within a larger African setting as well as the world beyond Africa that speaks to kingship. In this larger setting, the ingenuity of a system receives substantial theoretical analysis in terms of its representation, justification, ideology, and relevance. In my approach, the African concept and ideologies of power may begin to receive an attention that  they have not yet received. One advantage of such an approach is that this discourse can be built upon to move the contributions of Africa to a higher level of analysis, approximating it to what is called the "universal". Indeed, narratives on Oyo as well as other Afr...
